Class Nursery to VIII
  • 1st Term Examination 2nd Week of May
  • 2nd Term Examination 4th Week of October
  • Annual Examination Last Week of January

Class promotions will be decided by the headteachers at the end of the academic session.
The general rules to regulate the conduct of annual examinations and class promotions are as under:

  • A student with less than 80% attendance will not be allowed to appear in the Annual Examination.
  • Leave application for sickness during examinations must be supported by the medical certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner, duly endorsed by the School Medical Officer.
  • A student who fails in any subject, will not be considered for class position, merit badge, reward etc.
  • A student who fails to appear in any terminal / annual examination for any reason, will not be placed for position in the consolidated result.
  • Internal grades will be assessed on the basis of student’s overall performance in send-up tests.
  • Use of unfair means or cheating during the examinations will result in cancellation of the paper, along with a strict disciplinary action.
  • Recurrence of such an act will lead to expulsion from the School.
  • A student who happens to miss the annual examination as a whole or has been absent in any paper for a genuine reason, may be considered for promotion to the next class keeping in view his/her performance in the terminal examinations and class tests.
  • Failures will stand withdrawn from the school unless the Director grants the permission to repeat the class.
  • If a student fails for the second time in the same class, he/she will be compulsorily withdrawn from the school.
  • Answer sheets of terminal examinations duly checked/assessed may be handed over to the students. However, answer sheets of annual examination will be retained by the School for future reference.
  • Parents who want the rechecking of their children’s paper(s) can request for rechecking of the paper(s), on the prescribed form, within two weeks after the declaration of the result, after depositing a fee of Rs. 100/- per subject.

The school has its own centralized examination system which is run by the Controller of Examination.

Class Tests

Class tests in all subjects are conducted regularly on fortnightly basis. Being an important tool of summative assessment, these tests help teachers and parents to pinpoint learning difficulties and to adopt remedial measures accordingly. Marks obtained by the students in these periodic tests are regularly communicated to parents through student diaries.

Terminal Examination

These examinations are held at the end of each term. In no case shall a student be allowed to appear for re-test / re-examination in any terminal / annual examination for the subjects he / she missed. The class promotions are decided on the basis of student’s performance in the examinations held at the end of final term of the academic session.

The criteria of promotion for different classes are as follows:

Nursery to Prep

Pass percentage for individual subjects will be 60% with an aggregate of not less than 65%.

Class I to V
  • A student securing minimum 45% in all the subjects will be promoted to the next class.
  • A student failing in more than two subjects will be detained in the same class. A student failing for the second time in the same class will stand withdrawn.
  • A student who has failed in one subject and has maintained an aggregate of 45% or above shall be promoted.
  • A student who has failed in two subjects, has secured not less than 40% marks in these subjects, and has maintained an aggregate of 45% or above shall be promoted.
  • A student who has failed in two subjects, and secured less than 40% marks in failing subjects, will be eligible for a retest, to be conducted within 10 days after the declaration of the result.
  • The student will be promoted only if he / she secures at least 40% marks in each subject, he/she has appeared for the retest, provided that aggregate marks are not less than 45%.
Class VI to VIII
  • A student securing 40% marks in each subject will be promoted to the next class.
  • A student failing in more than two subjects will be detained in the same class.
  • A student who has failed in one subject, has secured at least 30% marks in the failing subject and maintained an aggregate of 40% will be promoted.
  • A student who has failed in two subjects, has secured at least 35% marks in these subjects and has maintained an aggregate of 40% will be promoted.
  • A student who has failed in one subject securing less than 30% marks or the one failing in two subjects and obtaining less than 35% marks in failing subjects will be eligible for a retest to be conducted within 10 days after declaration of the result. The student will be promoted only if he/she secures at least 35% marks in each subject, he / she has appeared for the retest, provided that aggregate marks are not less than 40%.
  • Students may collect duly assessed and marked answer sheets of all examinations after their marks have been posted in school record.
